Artificial Intelligence Engineer Role at Expleo in Chennai
Expleo is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team in Chennai. This role focuses on deploying and ensuring the reliability of AI models within critical pipelines, including those for Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning-based fraud detection, and agentic commerce applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and troubleshoot AI models in R&D pipelines, actively addressing real-time issues across experiments involving LLMs, ML fraud detection, and agentic commerce.
- Lead AI assurance activities, including continuous monitoring, bias audits, fairness testing, and robustness evaluations to ensure models align with ISO20022 standards and RBI regulations.
- Conduct thorough root-cause analysis for AI failures, such as model drift or ethical concerns, and implement effective solutions like model retraining, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) enhancements, or the integration of explainability layers.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and payments engineers, to integrate assured AI capabilities into production prototypes, prioritizing transparency and accountability.
- Develop tailored assurance frameworks, incorporating risk assessments for high-volume transaction data and ensuring regulatory compliance reporting.
- Document all findings comprehensively, create reusable assurance toolkits, and contribute to the development of AI governance policies to support scalable R&D initiatives.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in AI engineering or forward-deployed AI roles.
- Proven experience with AI/ML deployment using Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, LangChain, and vector databases, preferably within the fintech sector or high-scale environments.
- Deep expertise in AI assurance, including testing for fairness, explainability, robustness, and ethical considerations. Familiarity with frameworks like NIST AI RMF or Holistic AI practices is highly valued.
- Strong domain knowledge in payments, including ISO8583/ISO20022, UPI, and card schemes, as well as AI applications such as fraud detection or predictive analytics.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD for ML pipelines, and monitoring tools like WandB or MLflow.
- Experience with Indian payment schemes such as UPI and RuPay is advantageous. Experience with AI in agentic commerce is considered a plus.
- Relevant certifications in AI ethics/assurance (e.g., CAIDP) are desirable.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment, with a willingness to travel up to 25% to Chennai.
