Role Details within Operations Manager I Family
Area Manager
Working in a fulfillment center or office environment, this role involves on-floor observation, process audits, and associate coaching. Key activities include:
- Frequent walking within fulfillment centers and surrounding areas.
- Sustained standing and walking.
- Ability to work in potentially noisy, unlit, or non-airconditioned distribution environments.
- Accessing all areas of the building, including navigating ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Extensive data analysis to identify trends and lead Kaizen activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to ensure operational success and drive multiple initiatives with diverse stakeholders.
- Participation in leadership reviews, such as Daily Deep Dives and Site Business Reviews, to make decisions on site improvement parameters.
- Ensuring the implementation of quality best practices like 5S.
- Supporting, mentoring, and motivating hourly workforces.
- Managing safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery commitments.
- Collaborating with support teams, including Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources, to develop plans aligned with business objectives.
Operations Manager

- Reducing customer and seller service contacts.
- Analyzing and reducing defects and improving customer experience through concessions.
- Learning on-floor operations by shadowing seasoned managers to execute shifts independently.
- Developing methods to track and improve partner performance (carriers and 3P partners).
- Addressing transportation and supply chain issues in new Amazon marketplaces.
- Performing market and competitive analysis for transportation parameters.
- Developing and piloting operating plans to enhance performance.
- Identifying and preventing financial leakage when working with partners.
- Enhancing the customer returns experience.
- Driving process improvements for operational efficiency and quality metrics across fulfillment centers, transportation, and customer service.
- Analyzing and improving third-party seller order fulfillment.
- Collaborating with retail, FBA, customer service, and transportation teams to improve fulfillment center processes and metrics.
- Data processing, quality supervision, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Station Manager
Responsibilities include:
- Defining transportation processes from fulfillment centers to delivery stations.
- Providing practical input to centralized routing teams for optimizing delivery routes to customer addresses.
- Ensuring adequate citywide delivery team capacity for peak time management.
- Conducting performance appraisals and mentoring station supervisors for efficient operations.
- Continuously improving delivery processes and achieving sustained performance improvements.
- Analyzing data reports to identify bottlenecks and enhance performance.
- Implementing formal process control and improvement mechanisms like Kaizen.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of employee and performance management experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Physical capability to push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean techniques.
