American Electric Power (AEP) in Columbus, OH, is seeking a talented Architect to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for translating complex business requirements into robust technical solution architectures. You will be involved in every stage of application delivery, ensuring our technology solutions effectively address business challenges and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute as a key member of a larger team focused on delivering technology solutions that solve business problems and seize opportunities.
- Specialize in translating specific business requirements into comprehensive technical solution architectures, encompassing application, integration, and data architecture.
- Define non-functional requirements crucial for supportability, resiliency, and security.
- Transform general business requirements and industry trends into architectural patterns and technology ecosystems, including data center architecture, application and integration architecture patterns, technology standards, non-functional technical requirements, and computing paradigms.
- Work under limited supervision, actively participating in all phases of application delivery.
- Leverage previous experience as a Software Developer.
- Utilize prior experience as an Architect, particularly in environments supporting vendor software tools.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist in other areas as needed, such as coding or troubleshooting system outages.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required for the Architect (SG7) level.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience is required for the Architect Sr (SG8) level.
- Previous experience as a Software Developer is essential.
- Previous experience as an Architect within an environment supporting vendor software tools is required.
- A strong willingness to be flexible and assist with coding or troubleshooting system outages when the team requires.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are highly desirable.
- Previous experience with one or more of the following tools: Electric Office, CYME, Docking Station.
