Applied Research Scientist

About This Role

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. The AI Models team seeks exceptional machine learning scientists and engineers to innovate on training and inference techniques for large language models (LLMs), multimodal models (LMMs), image/video generation, self-evolving agents, diffusion, flow models, and state space architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Accelerate the training and inference speed of AI models using efficiency improvement techniques.
• Build AI agents to automatically write and evaluate efficient kernels for workload optimization.
• Publish research at top-tier conferences, workshops, or through technical blogs.
• Engage with academia and open-source ML communities.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone passionate about the latest literature who can implement novel ideas via high-quality code. You should have theoretical expertise in LLMs/LMMs/diffusion models, strong Python development skills, experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow), and knowledge of optimizing GPU kernels using HIP, CUDA, or Triton.

Education

An advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in machine learning, computer science, AI, or a related field is expected. Exceptional Bachelor's candidates with relevant research experience may also be considered.
