Position Overview

DrFirst seeks an Ambient Listening Engineer to build technology capturing spoken conversations via ambient AI for seamless information flow. You will work at real-time audio pipelines, speech models, and clinical workflow intersections with a focus on shipping software quickly.

What You Will Work On

• Design/build/maintain real-time near-real-time ambient audio capture/streaming pipelines (device to transcription).
• Integrate/fine-tune ASR, speaker diarization, noise-suppression models for noisy clinical environments.
• Build services/APIs turning raw audio into structured output like clinical notes or data elements.
• Partner with product/clinical informatics/design on prototypes and translate workflow problems to solutions.
• Own reliability, latency, accuracy metrics; monitor/improve in production.
• Implement privacy/security handling for HIPAA compliance.
• Evaluate/integrate third-party/open-source speech and LLM models balancing build-vs-buy tradeoffs.
