AlloyDB engineer

About the Role

Vastika Inc is seeking an experienced AlloyDB Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize Google Cloud AlloyDB database environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PostgreSQL, cloud database administration, performance tuning, high availability strategies, migration methodologies, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain Google Cloud AlloyDB clusters and instances.
• Perform comprehensive DBA activities: installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance of PostgreSQL-compatible environments ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Configure high availability, backups, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, optimize queries/indexes/workloads, and execute migrations from PostgreSQL/Oracle/MySQL to AlloyDB.
• Implement security best practices (IAM, encryption, access controls).
• Automate operations using Python, Shell scripting, Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with development teams on SQL performance and database design.
• Manage capacity planning, resource optimization, cost management, and resolve critical production incidents.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud AlloyDB.
• Advanced PostgreSQL administration knowledge (SQL tuning, indexing, backups/replication).
• GCP services proficiency (Networking, Security, IAM).
• Migration tool expertise and strong scripting abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud Database Engineer preferred).
• Large-scale production PostgreSQL environment management.
• Kubernetes/cloud-native application experience.
• SRE practices, DevOps background, and enterprise distributed systems knowledge.
