AI / API Engineer – Agentic AI Solutions – Associate Manager

Accenture is seeking an Associate Manager for their Agentic AI Solutions team, based in Mumbai or Bangalore. This role focuses on building next-generation AI capabilities within Payroll by combining business expertise with engineering to automate and scale operations.

As an AI / API Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building agentic AI solutions integrated with enterprise systems. You will also play a key role in mentoring internal talent transitioning into AI roles, blending hands-on engineering, solution design, and enablement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build Agentic AI Solutions: Design and develop AI-driven workflows using Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI and Azure OpenAI. Implement multi-step "agentic" solutions that combine reasoning, tools, and data, ensuring reliability, accuracy, and scalability.
• Integrate Enterprise Systems: Connect AI solutions to internal systems via APIs. Design and implement REST API integrations, including authentication and data exchange. Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Translate Business Problems into Solutions: Collaborate with payroll Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand real-world challenges. Break down complex problems into scalable AI + API architectures and deliver production-ready solutions.
• Enable & Mentor Talent: Support the upskilling of selected payroll professionals into AI engineers. Provide guidance, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices to build internal AI engineering capability.
• Ensure Engineering Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Implement robust error handling, logging, and debugging practices. Contribute to reusable components and scalable design patterns.

Required Profile:

• Experience: 6-8 years of experience in software engineering or related roles, with a proven track record of building real-world solutions.
• Technical Skills: Strong Python development, hands-on experience with APIs (REST, authentication, OAuth, tokens), and system integration. Experience with LLM-based solutions (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI), prompt structuring, and tool/function usage. Strong problem-solving and system design skills, including designing end-to-end workflows and debugging complex multi-component systems.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, analytical, collaborative thinking, and adaptability to change.
• Mindset: Strong ownership, ability to work in ambiguous environments, interest in applied AI, and a willingness to mentor and enable others.

Good to Have Skills:

• Experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
• Knowledge of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
• Familiarity with databases (SQL / NoSQL)
• Basic frontend or UI development for internal tools
• Payroll experience
• MS Office proficiency
