AI Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, reliable, and performant systems, services, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and product partners to define designs and deliver end-to-end features.
• Build and integrate secure, robust RESTful APIs, prioritizing data consistency and maintainability.
• Implement efficient data models and service access patterns using both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Apply and experiment with advanced AI/ML technologies, including agentic AI and large language models (LLMs).
• Leverage AI-powered engineering tools to enhance development quality, speed, and productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers, guiding them in technical planning, implementation, and adherence to best practices.
• Identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks through optimization of code, design, and infrastructure.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and actively participate in code reviews to maintain engineering excellence.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in engineering, AI/ML, and cloud-native technologies.

Collaboration:

You will join a high-performing engineering team responsible for core components of Teradata's AI platform. You will work closely with fellow engineers, AI/ML specialists, product managers, cloud architects, and partner teams across the organization. This role provides direct opportunities to shape Teradata's AI product roadmap and technological direction.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in backend services, distributed systems, or data platform development.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Go, or Python for service development.
• Solid understanding of design principles, distributed system patterns, and service frameworks.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Proven debugging, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with modern containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms.
• Experience using AI productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Experience experimenting with or implementing AI/ML technologies, Agentic AI, or LLMs.
• Understanding of engineering best practices.
• A proactive approach and comfort in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for building impactful AI-driven products.
