About Us: Lifted is a leading global marketplace for professional services with a growing presence in the APAC region. We are seeking experienced engineers to build resilient financial systems.

Role Overview: Join our Hyderabad, Telangana team as a Backend Software Engineer specializing in payments infrastructure. You will architect and maintain high-availability microservices using Java/Spring Boot within an event-driven environment on AWS. This role requires deep expertise in GraphQL (Apollo), message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS), and strict adherence to financial-grade coding standards including idempotency and transactional consistency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop production-ready Java Spring Boot services for payment processing and billing platforms.
  • Implement new payment capabilities, deliver features, and resolve critical bugs to enhance system reliability.
  • Pipeline development through GitLab CI with rigorous JaCoCo coverage standards. 
  • Enhance observability using Datadog monitors for safe canary deployments.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot in production microservices.
  • Demonstrated ownership of distributed systems, preferably within an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise building GraphQL APIs via Netflix DGS or consuming them using the Apollo Java/Kotlin client.
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures utilizing AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
  • JPA/Hibernate and Spring Data JPA mastery (MySQL/Aurora), covering transactional design, optimistic locking, schema migrations, and entity management.
  • Bespoke testing strategies using JUnit 5, Mockito, and integration tests against live environments.
  • Gradle multi-module builds proficiency for complex project structures.
  • Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Datadog metrics as deployment quality gates. 
  • Responsible utilization of AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Claude to maintain code integrity.

    • Distributed Systems & Financial Domain:
  • Experience designing idempotent event handlers.
  • Sophisticated reasoning about transactional boundaries across external billing platforms and local metadata stores.
  • Integration of third-party REST or SDK-based payment gateways.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot 3, DynamoDB (AWS SDK v2), MongoDB multi-store architectures, or Netflix DGS experience.
Required Tech Stack & Tools:

We expect proficiency in: Java/Spring Boot, GraphQL/Apollo Client, AWS SQS/Kafka/RabbitMQ, JPA/Hibernate (MySQL/Aurora), JUnit 5/Mockito, Gradle, GitLab CI/CD, JaCoCo, and Datadog.
