Full Job Description
Celestica is seeking a Staff Engineer, Software for our Hardware Platform Solutions (HPS) team in Guindy, Chennai, India. This is an individual contributor role within the Customer Experience (CX) organization, focusing on troubleshooting and resolving customer technical issues related to networking (primarily Switching and Network Security), storage, and server software, with a special emphasis on SONiC related issues. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced technical support troubleshooter with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issues, interfacing directly with customers, and managing escalations for mission-critical networks. This role requires the ability to remain calm under pressure and possess strong operational experience for efficient issue resolution.
As a Network Engineer, you will engage with customers to understand their network topology, provide suggestions, answer technical questions, review configurations, and troubleshoot issues. You will also participate in pre-sales activities, assisting Celestica’s Sales Engineers and Business Development teams. A comprehensive understanding of networking protocols common in Data Center, Enterprise, and Campus environments is essential. Responsibilities include authoring test cases using Python/Go for internal Quality Assurance activities and creating Application Notes for customer consumption. Deep experience in troubleshooting a wide array of network-related issues and an understanding of switch and router architecture are required. This position may require up to 25% travel.
Required skills and experience include:
- Experience with SONiC network operating system and FRR stack.
- Experience in designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network hardware, topologies, and deployments (Data Center/Enterprise/Campus).
- Deep understanding of networking concepts, architecture, topology (Places-In-Network), and protocols including BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VXLAN, EVPN, IGMP, DHCP, BFD, VRF, Authentication (RADIUS/TACACS), Network Management protocols, NAT, Multicast, QoS (RoCE/DSCP), ACL, ZTP, Telemetry, and Monitoring/Analytics.
- Deep understanding of Switching/Network Security/Routing hardware architecture.
- Proficiency in Linux.
- Experience in C and scripting languages like Python/Go is a significant advantage.
- Direct customer interface experience is mandatory.
- Experience in writing technical documentation such as Application Notes, FAQs, Installation Guides, User Manuals, and Troubleshooting Guides.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic and international).
- Willingness to work on a rotation basis on weekends, holidays, and during off-business hours to align with North America and Europe working hours.
This role typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Duties are performed in a normal office environment, requiring extended periods of sitting, sustained visual concentration, and repetitive manual movements. Occasional travel may be required.
