WordPress Web Designer & Technical Developer (Part-Time Contractor)

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (Part-Time | Deliverables-Based)

Location: Remote (India)

Monthly Retainer: $700 – $1200 USD (based on experience and scope)

Estimated Capacity: ~20–40 hours per month

Objective of This Engagement

We are a U.S.-based immigration law firm building a high-performance digital presence. This role is responsible for maintaining, improving, and technically optimizing our WordPress website to ensure it is:

• Fast
• Secure
• Mobile-first
• Conversion-focused
• SEO and AI-search optimized

This is not a passive maintenance role. It requires structured monthly deliverables and proactive technical oversight.

Scope of Work (Monthly Deliverables)

1️⃣ Landing Page Design & Development

• Design and build 1–2 high-converting landing pages per month
• Mobile-first layout
• Clear CTA structure
• Clean, professional UI aligned with legal branding
• Delivery within 5 business days of request

2️⃣ Technical SEO & AI Search Implementation (In coordination with SEO Manager)

Implement technical improvements including:

• Advanced Schema markup (LegalService, FAQPage, Article, BreadcrumbList)
• Structured semantic HTML
• Internal linking architecture support
• FAQ schema integration
• Canonical URL management
• XML sitemap maintenance
• hreflang implementation (for multilingual pages)
• Core Web Vitals optimization
• AI-search visibility optimization (clean structure for AI summarization)

Website structure must support:

• Featured snippet eligibility
• AI-generated summaries
• Knowledge panel reinforcement
• Strong E-E-A-T signals

3️⃣ Performance Optimization

• Maintain 85–95+ PageSpeed score (mobile prioritized)
• Image compression & lazy loading
• Script and plugin optimization
• Monthly performance audit

4️⃣ Security & Maintenance

• WordPress core updates
• Plugin updates (approved list only)
• Backup monitoring
• Security hardening
• Immediate response (within 24 hours) to technical issues

5️⃣ Conversion Rate Optimization (Light Scope)

• Implement A/B testing when requested
• Optimize forms, CTA placement, and layout
• Install and maintain GA4, Tag Manager, and tracking scripts

Major redesign projects are out of scope and billed separately.

Performance Standards

• All SEO fixes implemented within 3–5 business days
• Landing pages delivered within agreed timeline
• 99%+ uptime
• No unapproved plugins installed
• All technical changes documented

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years WordPress development experience
• Strong HTML/CSS and working knowledge of PHP
• Experience with Elementor / Gutenberg / Divi
• Demonstrated ability to improve PageSpeed
• Experience with structured data & schema implementation
• Understanding of SEO best practices
• Portfolio showing both design and technical execution
