Software Engineer

Barclays is seeking a Software Engineer in Pune, Maharashtra, to support the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects. This role involves planning, budgeting, and adhering to quality and governance standards while driving innovation in our digital landscape to revolutionize digital offerings and ensure unparalleled customer experiences.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing applications using full-stack technologies, participating in code reviews to maintain high coding standards, and developing automation scripts and tools to improve development efficiency. You will also contribute to technical discussions and implementation decisions, and support junior engineers with technical guidance.

Valued skills include hands-on experience with Java and Spring, and a track record in full-stack software development with system design and end-to-end application development experience. Successful candidates will be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, alongside job-specific technical skills.

The purpose of the role is to design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies, providing essential business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities include:

• Development and delivery of high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, devise strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
• Participation in code reviews and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Staying informed of industry technology trends and contributing to the organization's technology communities.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure code quality and reliability.
