Full Job Description
The Data Query Team at Sumo Logic is seeking a Software Engineer II to build scalable and cost-effective backend services for managing a proprietary query engine for logs, metrics, and tracing. This role involves working with a team that handles millions of daily queries and analyzes petabytes of data.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement high-volume, fault-tolerant, scalable backend systems for processing and managing customer data.
- Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems.
- Write robust, well-tested code.
- Collaborate with a team to address business needs.
- Provide on-call support.
Required Qualifications:
- B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
- 2-3 years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership.
- Object-oriented experience in languages like Java, Scala, Ruby, or C++.
- Understanding of the performance characteristics of data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc.).
- Desire to learn Scala.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
- Experience in big data and/or 24x7 commercial service.
- Comfortable working with Unix (Linux, OS X).
- Agile software development experience is a plus.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
