Amazon is seeking highly motivated software engineers to join the Kindle Reader organization in Bengaluru, Karnataka. In this role, you will innovate on the reading experience for Kindle mobile devices and services used by millions of Amazon customers worldwide. You will collaborate with world-class engineers and business leaders, designing, architecting, and coding for Kindle Reader iOS, Android applications, and E-Reader software. About the team

As an engineer on this team, you will contribute to:

• The foundational technology stack for syncing and storing structured annotations, including text sticky notes, highlights, and bookmarks.
• Customer experience features for syncing, such as displaying the most recent page read (MRPR) and furthest page read (FPR).
• The core sync architecture, driving our vision for a federated, scalable, and plug-and-play sync service for all Kindle and Books features requiring synchronization.
• The backend system for handwritten notetaking (via Kindle Scribe), supporting sync, storage, data integrity, privacy/security, and architectural enhancements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
• 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Proficiency in at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
