Full Job Description
Visual Soft, Inc. is seeking skilled professionals to join our team supporting a Prime contractor's crucial efforts for a federal agency. This role is based 100% onsite in Huntsville, AL, and demands an active Top Secret clearance. You will be instrumental in managing secure, mission-critical data environments within a classified cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL workflows for extracting, transforming, and loading large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
- Develop and implement data migration strategies for transitioning data between legacy and modern systems, utilizing SQL, Java, and cloud-native tools.
- Integrate data solutions leveraging key AWS services, including Glue, Lambda, S3, RDS, Redshift, and Kinesis.
- Create automation scripts using Python, Shell, or Bash to streamline deployment, data validation, and ongoing maintenance tasks.
- Ensure the performance and reliability of data pipelines for both real-time and batch data processing.
- Contribute to data quality assurance, metadata management, and governance initiatives.
- Actively participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, contributing to design discussions, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues across both on-premises and AWS environments.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret Clearance is mandatory (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience for Senior roles, or 5 years for Mid-Level roles.
- Demonstrated strong experience in ETL development.
- Proven experience with data migration projects.
- Experience developing Java-based data pipelines.
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Exposure to and understanding of AWS cloud services.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Expertise in SQL and at least one major RDBMS (Oracle or PostgreSQL).
- Proficiency in Java or Python for data processing and automation.
- Experience working with cloud technologies, with a preference for AWS (RDS, S3, Lambda, Redshift, Glue).
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Experience operating within an Agile/Scrum development framework.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ (Mid-Level) or 8+ (Senior-Level) years of experience in data engineering or database development.
- Substantial hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, AWS Glue, or custom Java ETL frameworks.
- Experience with data migration projects and data quality validation techniques.
