Senior Software Engineer (PostgreSQL Specialist)

As a Senior Backend Engineer (PostgreSQL Specialist) at Applause, you will collaborate closely with our Lead Developer and Co-Founder to design and implement a cutting-edge data architecture. You will be responsible for ensuring that our database and backend systems scale effectively, maintain high performance under heavy load, and align with product growth. Responsibilities include designing, structuring, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases; implementing indexing, partitioning, caching, and query optimization strategies; architecting and evolving data models; collaborating with the backend engineering team; monitoring and tuning database performance; developing and releasing backend code that meets high engineering standards; and establishing best practices. This role offers a fully remote, fast-moving startup environment. Applicants should have 7-12 years of backend engineering experience with at least 5 years of production experience with PostgreSQL, proficiency with Node.js or a comparable backend environment, and experience with query optimization and scaling databases. Ideal candidates have high standards for code quality and documentation.
