As a Senior Civil/Conveyance Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting overall work progress and technical performance on projects. You'll collaborate with project delivery leadership and senior managers.
Key Duties Include:
- Engineering calculations and drawing preparation (e.g., hydraulics, pipe design).
- Preparation of technical memos, reports, and specifications.
- Alignment selection (vertical and horizontal).
- Leading design of site grading, site servicing, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, roadway drainage systems, storm sewers, and LID measures.
- Supporting collaboration with Conveyance, Water Resources, Infrastructure, and Buildings teams.
- Supporting team growth, coaching, mentoring junior team members.
- Coordinating design with stakeholders for permits and approvals.
- Supporting the construction team with site visits and inspections.
Required Skills
- Hydraulic Modeling Software (WaterGEMS/ SewerGEMS).
- ArcGIS Pro/ QGIS
- Naviswork
- Microstation/ AutoCAD exposure.
Hybrid Work Expectation Average office presence of 3 days per week, with travel for client/site meetings and occasional team meetings.
Experience Needed:
- 10+ years experience in an engineering consulting environment.
- Managing and coordinating multiple disciplines on various projects.
- Design experience of large and small diameter infrastructure.
- Experience in trenchless design (HDD, TBM, MTBM).
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent report writing skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering / Technology
Preferred:
- Post Graduate degree in Environmental Engineering/ Water Resources/Irrigation or equivalent
- Understanding of AWWA, Ofwat, and Hydraulic Institute Standards (HIS) an asset.
- Experience in condition assessment and rehabilitation (asset) an asset.
- Experience in proposal preparation and leadership (asset)
- Experience in alternate delivery methods (asset)
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as a Professional Engineer (PE)/ Chartered Engineer
