Navan is revolutionizing corporate travel, payments, and expenses by focusing on user needs. As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Enterprise Team, you'll be a leader building the backbone of our corporate travel infrastructure. You'll architect and develop systems for the world's largest companies, managing everything from complex policy engines and approval workflows to user lifecycle management and enterprise analytics in Bengaluru, IN.
This high-impact role involves solving complex logic and scalability challenges to ensure our platform handles sophisticated corporate rules and seamless integrations for massive global organizations. You'll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and architects to build innovative solutions for effective travel spend management.
What You'll Do:
- Architect Enterprise Core Services: Design, build, and evolve backend microservices for travel policies, dynamic approval workflows, and compliance enforcement.
- Build Data-Driven Services: Design and develop scalable APIs and data processing services for high data volumes, reporting features, and integrations.
- Own Systems End-to-End: Architect, develop, and launch key backend features and microservices.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work cross-functionally to deliver complex, cross-domain features.
- Drive the Technical Vision: Partner with leadership to define and execute the long-term technical roadmap.
- Champion Best Practices: Contribute to technical excellence through high-quality, scalable code and mentoring.
What We’re Looking For:
- 4+ years of backend software development experience, building large-scale distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in backend development using Java and Spring Boot.
- Proven experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and query optimization.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing scalable, resilient applications using microservices on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Strong technical ownership and a collaborative mindset.
- A passion for solving challenging problems in system scalability and data integrity.
- Ability to effectively leverage AI development tools.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
