QA Test Engineer - VMware & OpenShift

Shift Hours: UK Long term Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and validation strategies for virtualization and OpenShift-based deployments.
• Validate migrations of virtualized workloads from traditional VM platforms (e.g., VMware) to containerized platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift.
• Test and certify network and security appliance integrations within OpenShift environments (e.g., F5, Cisco ASA, Cisco ISE, Bluecoat).
• Perform functional, regression, performance, and integration testing across test and production environments.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams to ensure seamless migration and deployment.
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution using structured defect management processes.
• Validate networking configurations including routing, switching, firewall policies, load balancing, and segmentation.
• Support change management activities, including CAB documentation, risk assessment, and rollback planning.
• Ensure compliance with customer change management and production release processes.
• Provide clear test reports, dashboards, and stakeholder updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in QA/Engineering/Test roles.
• Strong expertise in:
• VMware virtualization platforms
• Red Hat OpenShift (must-have)
• Proven experience testing and validating migrations of complex virtualized workloads at scale.
• Experience validating deployment of network/security appliances such as:
• F5 Load Balancers
• Cisco ASA
• Cisco ISE
• Bluecoat Proxy
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewall policies, NAT, load balancing).
• Experience working in structured change management environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
