We are looking for an experienced Python Backend Developer with AI expertise to join our customer's team. This remote role blends backend development, API design, and AI-powered tooling evaluation. You will help shape next-generation developer workflows while collaborating with cutting-edge AI research teams.

Role Overview

As a Python Developer – AI Expert, you will design and maintain robust REST and GraphQL APIs, perform backend optimization, and test AI models in Cursor to provide actionable insights. This position requires strong backend skills, attention to detail, and a passion for advancing developer tools through AI integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable backend services.
• Implement data validation, error handling, and API security best practices.
• Plan and execute database migrations, optimizations, and schema changes.
• Test new AI-powered models in Cursor during intensive 4-day evaluation bursts.
• Provide structured feedback on model performance via bug reports, incident logs, and screenshots.
• Collaborate with the research team through dedicated Slack channels to discuss improvements.
• Submit post-burst surveys detailing insights on AI model behavior and developer experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Strong proficiency in building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of backend data validation, error handling, and API security.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, schema design, and performance tuning.
• Extensive experience using AI-assisted coding tools; familiarity with Cursor is highly desirable.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for precise incident reporting and documentation.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, confidential, and remote collaborative environments.
