- Direct the manufacturing operations involved in the production of cylinder liners
- Incorporate customer purchase orders into a realistic manufacturing plan that will ensure delivery of product on a timely basis
- Successfully work directly with Supervisors, Maintenance, Engineering, Accounting, and HR to ensure production goals are met
- Supervise employees and assign work to meet production schedules; provide shift-to-shift continuity
- Enforce plant rules covered by labor contract; resolve labor problems
- Maintain two-way communications between management and hourly employees
- Enforce safety rules and oversee housekeeping
- Meet predetermined annual goals in the area of labor efficiency, productivity improvement, cost reduction, scrap reduction, safety performance, and absenteeism
- Schedule and acknowledge delivery dates on customer purchase orders while striving to meet customer requirements
- Monitor production capacities on a regular basis and communicate with management as required to ensure sufficient capacities are available to manufacture scheduled product

Tenneco, a key player in automotive manufacturing and specifically focused on cylinder liner production, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead its Lake City, MN facility. This critical role involves overseeing all manufacturing operations to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality cylinder liners. The Production Manager will be responsible for coordinating with diverse departments, meeting rigorous production goals, and upholding stringent safety and efficiency standards. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, employee supervision, and a commitment to continuous improvement within the automotive sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing manufacturing operations for cylinder liner production.
- Developing and implementing manufacturing plans based on customer purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Collaborating with Supervisors, Maintenance, Engineering, Accounting, and HR to achieve production targets.
- Supervising and assigning tasks to employees to meet production schedules and ensure seamless shift transitions.
- Enforcing plant rules, including those covered by the labor contract, and resolving labor-related issues.
- Facilitating effective two-way communication between management and hourly employees.
- Championing and enforcing safety rules, along with overseeing general housekeeping standards.
- Meeting annual goals for labor efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, scrap reduction, safety performance, and absenteeism.
- Scheduling and confirming delivery dates on customer purchase orders while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
- Monitoring production capacities and communicating needs to management to ensure adequate resources for scheduled production.
- Coordinating manning and overtime requirements to ensure a consistent product flow aligned with forecasts and delivery commitments.
- Achieving plant objectives for work-in-process and finished goods inventory levels.
- Participating in system improvement initiatives related to production planning and inventory control.
- Managing the logistics and transportation of finished goods to meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Collaborating with Federal Mogul Departments to define shipping and packaging requirements.
- Adhering to and promoting the company's Environmental Management System (EMS) policies, including understanding significant EMS aspects, legal requirements, and reporting non-conformances.
