Key Responsibilities:

• Cultivate a positive patient experience by warmly welcoming patients, introducing yourself, explaining procedures, and expressing gratitude for choosing Banner Health.
• Execute pre-registration and registration processes, including verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining necessary authorizations, and submitting notifications. Accurately input and document patient demographics into the A/D/T system to optimize reimbursement and minimize denials. Secure all required federal/state information, consents, and documentation per insurance plans. Consistently achieve individual accuracy goals.
• Understand and verify insurance benefits, collecting patient responsibility payments based on estimates at the time of service or during pre-registration. Perform bedside collection attempts as assigned. Consistently achieve individual collection targets.
• Provide financial counseling, explaining financial policies, identifying available resources, and assisting patients with applications for Medicaid and other financial assistance programs (basic, enhanced, prompt pay discount, loan program).
• Serve as a liaison between patients, billing departments, vendors, physician offices, and payors to improve account receivables, meet payment collection goals, resolve issues, and enhance service excellence.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, hospital departments, nursing, and Health Information Management Services to address and resolve outstanding patient concerns and financial service needs.
• Consistently meet individual productivity goals, complete daily assignments, maintain accurate electronic logs, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Foster a spirit of teamwork.
• Perform various patient and financial services tasks, which may include transporting patients, precepting new hires, and processing daily deposits.
• Work independently under supervision, following structured routines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring quick decision-making and sound judgment to prioritize tasks and ensure timely, appropriate patient care. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payor information crucial for reimbursement. Interact with patients, families, physician office staff, and third-party payors.
