Full Job Description
Join BlackRock's Aladdin Engineering team as a Java Back-end Developer in Mumbai, India, and contribute to innovative technology shaping financial markets. We seek curious and passionate Software Engineers to solve complex problems within a dynamic, startup-like environment. As part of the core Private Markets technology team, you will engineer a cloud-first Private Markets platform using a microservice architecture. This platform supports hundreds of client businesses, managing and analyzing their portfolios, with example projects including permissions and document management, and business-facing investment services.
Responsibilities:
- Quickly learn the business and systems, demonstrating inquisitiveness and enthusiasm.
- Design, develop, and implement secure, scalable, and reliable micro-services using Java technologies, including REST and gRPC, for client-facing applications.
- Contribute to project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables within AGILE methodologies.
- Deliver highly efficient, available, concurrent, and fault-tolerant software systems.
- Collaborate with team members, product management, and business users to execute the product roadmap.
- Develop innovative solutions for complex problems, proactively identifying and addressing issues.
- Engage with the broader Aladdin Engineering organization, becoming an integral part of its success.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
- Preference for experience with Java 17+.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable micro-services using API-First principles with REST or gRPC.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services is beneficial.
- Experience with message brokers like Kafka is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build modern software using engineering tools such as git, maven, unit testing, integration testing, and mocking frameworks.
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in object-oriented development and applying standard Design Patterns.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
- A friendly, positive, and can-do attitude.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred.
