IS Observability Engineer

As an IS Observability Engineer reporting to the Global IS Dep Manager for Service DM IT, you will manage a central monitoring and alerting platform that integrates all Core IS services within an architecturally complex environment. This role requires a deep understanding of hosting, network, and application services, common integration practices, and IT operations best practices. You will contribute to the global Core IS function, collaborating with stakeholders such as IS Process Owners, IS Service Owners, IS Service Managers, the IS Observability Framework Lead, IS Observability Monitoring Specialists, and MSP PoCs.

Key responsibilities include the management, development, support, and configuration of the central AIOps platform (APEX). You will also be responsible for configuring and managing integrations of monitoring sources like Dynatrace, Checkmk, and cloud-native services with the platform, as well as outbound integrations with ServiceNow, Snowflake, and Blue Prism. This role involves L3 support for technical issues and continuous improvement and expansion of the platform's core capabilities. You will join a high-performing team to deliver ABB's global Observability platform.

Ideal candidates possess excellent complex technical problem-solving skills, a curious and innovative mindset, and strong scripting knowledge. A strong technical understanding of connected and distributed multi-application environments is essential. Evidence of improving proactive event management or similar processes in medium to large organizations is highly valued. You should be adept at working with third-party and internal service providers managing applications, system software, and production infrastructure. Excellent documentation skills, including creating support documentation for users and operations teams, are required. A deep understanding of container orchestration services, Agile methodology, and DevOps concepts is necessary. Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, a fundamental understanding of infrastructure and applications, and proficiency in infrastructure scripting solutions like PowerShell or Python are expected. An ITIL 4 foundation certification is preferred.
