Geosyntec Consultants in Detroit, MI, is actively seeking an enthusiastic Intern/Co-Op to join our Civil/Environmental Engineering or Geology team. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world engineering and environmental projects, gain hands-on experience in a dynamic consulting environment, and develop essential business acumen. You will work closely with experienced professionals on a variety of challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering calculations using advanced computer-based technical tools.
- Contribute to technical writing, including reports, proposals, plans, and specifications.
- Conduct data input and analysis, creating maps, tables, and figures for project deliverables.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, geologists, administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel.
- Potentially engage in fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, drilling, and contractor oversight.
- Assist with office organization, storage, and equipment management.
- Operate personal, company, and rental vehicles for business travel to client sites, company offices, and other relevant locations.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a relevant engineering or geology discipline.
- Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.
- Exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- A valid U.S. driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and a satisfactory driving record are required for business travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree focus in civil, geotechnical, environmental, water resources engineering, geology, or hydrogeology.
- Enrollment in upper-division undergraduate or Master's programs.
- Prior experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcView), CADD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
