Full Job Description

WSP, a prominent engineering and professional services firm dedicated to local communities, is seeking an Inspector I for its Construction Management Team in Columbia, MD. This role involves conducting daily site inspections to ensure adherence to construction plans, specifications, and codes, while meticulously maintaining project records and test reports. You will be responsible for reviewing and verifying construction quantities, performing quality assurance on installed materials, and acting as the Owner’s agent throughout the construction process. The ideal candidate will monitor project progression against schedules, interpret contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and as-built drawings, and effectively communicate field conditions and conflicts to the Resident Inspector. This position requires close interface with clients and contractors, under the direction of the Resident Inspector, and involves detailed record-keeping of contractor performance. You will also support the tracking of technical submittals, shop drawing reviews, and RFIs, and prepare daily construction logs using client software. Assistance with compiling data for monthly reports and developing construction punch lists are key duties. This role demands responsible and ethical decision-making, adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct, and the ability to perform additional responsibilities as needed.
