About the Job:
HARTING India seeks an Industrial Engineer for its Product Development team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This role focuses on developing assembly lines for new product developments (NPDs) related to connectors, cable assemblies, and harnesses. The engineer will collaborate with R&D on design feasibility, focusing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Poke Yoke principles. Responsibilities include developing assembly lines, creating process flow charts, PFMEAs, and work instructions, and managing component development with suppliers. The ideal candidate will have experience in electro-mechanical products, die-casting, plastics, sheet metal component development, and assembly processes. This position reports to the Assistant Manager of Industrial Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop assembly lines for NPDs.
- Collaborate with the R&D team.
- Perform manufacturing feasibility analysis.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Poke Yoke principles.
- Oversee NPD for electro-mechanical products.
- Manage component development and supplier coordination.
- Design assembly line equipment and fixtures.
- Develop process flow charts, PFMEAs, and work instructions.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and investments.
- Conduct New Product PPAP.
- Determine production equipment capacity requirements.
- Support the Engineering Change Notification process and part setup in SAP.
- Attend team meetings and provide progress reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or B.Tech.
- 4-6 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
- Experience with electromechanical products (connectors and cable assemblies preferred).
