Qualifications
Experience Level: Mid Level
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent
- Work towards a C-10 contractor's license or a Certified Electrical Worker Card
- Ability to travel 75% of time
- Ability to troubleshoot network and telemetry issues
- Valid OSHA 30 certification
- Valid NFPA 70e Safety Training certification
- Valid Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification
- Demonstrated ability to recognize work hazards and mitigate using proper tools and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work alone and safety under any conditions
- Ability to pass an exam on international and domestic electrical schematics and symbols

SOLV Energy, a leader in utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage substation projects, is seeking a skilled HV Testing Technician β Level 3 for its Bakersfield, CA operations. This role is crucial for managing testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities within substations and PV facilities, with an unwavering commitment to safety and adherence to industry standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and supervising site testing, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting efforts, while also performing these tasks directly, strictly following company and industry safety protocols. This includes performing maintenance according to authorized service documents and ensuring a safe working environment through strict adherence to and enforcement of safety standards. Communication of safety regulations and work procedures is essential.
This position involves supervising, training, and certifying Testing Technician Level I, II, and III employees, as well as preparing timely and accurate documentation and reports. The technician will also complete jobs with the assistance of Technicians and Trainees, assemble, write, and review complete test reports. The ability to handle multiple, potentially mentally demanding jobs simultaneously with limited supervision is required. Effective communication with clients, vendors, and teammates is paramount. Familiarity with the implementation of engineering studies and the development of technical/safety policy and procedures, including writing Standard Operating Procedures, is expected. The role also requires assessing other technicians' safety and technical skill sets and upholding diversity and inclusion.
