You will act as a technical reference across multiple teams, ensuring long-term scalability, reliability, and engineering excellence. The role offers the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy, where technical decisions have a direct impact on product development and business growth. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering leaders to design scalable, high-performance systems, and contribute to critical parts of our codebase, shaping the future of our payments platform.

- Deep understanding of designing distributed systems and scalable APIs.
- Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and system design trade-offs.
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Excellent debugging, refactoring, and performance optimization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency or proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the fullstack architecture across frontend and backend systems to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Lead complex system design initiatives, establishing technical standards and best practices.
- Drive technical alignment across multiple teams, ensuring consistency and quality in implementation.
- Contribute directly to critical parts of the codebase, writing scalable, production-ready, and well-tested code.
- Lead major refactors and performance optimizations to improve system efficiency.
- Review code and provide deep technical guidance to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to evaluate trade-offs related to scalability, security, cost, and speed.
- Design APIs, database schemas, caching strategies, and distributed systems to support platform growth.
- Guide teams in handling edge cases, failure scenarios, and observability to ensure system resilience.
- Identify architectural bottlenecks and propose scalable solutions to improve system performance.
- Evaluate new technologies and frameworks to enhance system capabilities and maintain technological relevance.
- Improve system monitoring, instrumentation, and reliability practices to ensure high availability and robustness.
Benefits
- Vacations and additional paid time off (PTO).
- Remote work flexibility from anywhere.
