Roles & Responsibilities
Expected skills & Qualifications
1. AI/Machine Learning Expertise (Core Requirement)
Strong experience in:
- Computer Vision (CV)
- Document AI
- OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
- Layout detection and document parsing
- Experience working with excel/CSV/tabular business data
Experience building AI systems for:
- Engineering drawings
- Construction document automation
Knowledge of:
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Multi model AI (image + text understanding)
- Prompt engineering
- Retrieve-Augmented Generation (RAG)
Experience training custom models for:
- Object detection (bars, annotations, callouts)
- Text recognition from CAD/PDF drawings
Ability to design AI systems that:
- Detect inconsistencies in drawings/ documents
- Request human confirmation when ambiguity exists
2. Software & Automation development
Strong programming skills in:
- Python (mandatory)
- Experience with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
Experience working with:
- PDF parsing libraries
- CAD file processing (DWG/DXF)
Ability to:
- Automate measurement extraction from digital drawings
- Develop end-to-end qualifying pipelines
- Integrate AI outputs into customizable output formats
Experience building:
- Workflow automation tools
- QA validation systems
- Cloud-based AI systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
3. Data engineering & knowledge systems
- Experience in handling large structured and unstructured datasets
- Ability to:
Build historical project knowledge bases
Structure bar bending templates into machine-readable formats
- Experience designing feedback loops for continuous AI improvement
4. Construction Engineering Knowledge (Preferred):
- Understanding of structural concrete systems
- Experience interpreting:
Structural design output drawings
Structural general notes
Bar bending schedules
Sections, elevations,band plan views
- Knowledge of:
Standards/ codes
Bar shapes,hooks,laps,splices, development lengths
Concrete cover requirements
Structural load paths and engineering practices
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Ability to work closely with quantity surveyors and domain experts (bill of material logic)
- Work closely with backend/ full-stack engineers (takeoff software integration)
- Strong communication skills to translate AI decisions into understandable outputs
- Detail-oriented mindset
- Process documentation skills
- Support seamelss integration of AI into existing workflows
