Full Job Description

RiverStone Health, a leading provider of personal and public health services in south-central Montana, seeks a skilled Clinical Informatics Specialist. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and optimization of clinical systems. The specialist will collaborate with diverse teams to enhance the effective utilization of electronic health records (EHR).

Key responsibilities include leading the ongoing review, optimization, and maintenance of EHR templates, order sets, documentation tools, and decision support content. The role involves facilitating the EHR Super User group, coordinating meetings, communications, and workflow improvement initiatives. Ensuring alignment with evidence-based practice, quality program requirements, and organizational standards is paramount. Collaboration with external partners and vendors for interface updates and data integrity, along with coordinating testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory and diagnostic interfaces, are essential duties. Maintaining various compendiums (laboratory, diagnostic imaging, procedure, therapeutic injection, immunization) and partnering with clinical, pharmacy, billing, and quality teams to support documentation accuracy, charge capture, and regulatory compliance are also core functions. The specialist will evaluate vendor releases and regulatory updates, coordinate the testing and implementation of system enhancements, and lead workflow and documentation optimization efforts to improve efficiency.

Identifying improvement opportunities through user feedback and system metrics, supporting project rollouts, pilot testing, and post-implementation follow-up are integral. This role also involves maintaining centralized informatics education resources, supporting the development and validation of metrics for new initiatives, and collaborating with quality and operational teams for reporting and audit readiness. Shadowing staff and providers to identify best practices, assess clinical workflow processes, and identify opportunities for EHR revision is required. Participation in quality improvement processes related to productivity, clinical outcomes, and EHR output monitoring is expected. Development and distribution of EHR tips, updates, and best practice guidance, along with designing and delivering educational programs on EHR features, are key responsibilities. Engagement with the Health Information Technology team and support for quality improvement efforts of network members (UDS, PCMH, VBC) are also part of the role. The specialist will identify optimization opportunities by collaborating with various programs leveraging the EHR and work with health networks like the Montana Primary Care Association (MPCA) and National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) to develop best practices and stay informed on industry trends. Acting as a liaison between clinical providers, HIT staff, and leadership, and navigating broadly defined objectives using independent judgment, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving are essential.
