Claims Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of claims, assessing compensability and liability based on case facts, industry best practices, established protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and execute comprehensive action plans for each claim, utilizing available resources effectively.
• Conduct thorough investigations to confirm policy coverage, determine liability, assess compensability, and identify damages.
• Analyze policy coverage for submitted claims, communicate any coverage issues to the insured, and establish/adjust reserve requirements as needed.
• Refer claims to the subrogation group or Special Investigations Unit when appropriate.
• Evaluate actual damages, conduct negotiations within assigned authority limits, and work towards timely claim settlements.
• Perform other assigned duties to support the claims department.

  Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in claims adjustment, general insurance, or a formal claims training program.
  • Must possess and maintain all applicable claims adjusters licenses.
  • Strong understanding of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology, and the legal aspects of claims handling.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of continuing education courses leading to industry certifications such as AEI, IIA, or CPCU is highly preferred.
