Sr. Backend Dev – Java/Spring Boot

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our team in Chennai, Hyderabad, or Bangalore. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities. This position involves hands-on engineering, release readiness, production deployment, monitoring, and cross-team coordination. You will contribute to significant technical decisions, uphold engineering excellence, and ensure smooth, reliable release cycles for enterprise-grade platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL, along with a solid understanding of distributed systems and production-scale applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance backend solutions critical to business workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume transactions.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and manage data.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, resilience, and security.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product owners, and QA teams on end-to-end feature delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Database/Cache (Postgres, Redis, or similar).
• 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise, web, or cloud applications.
• 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar public cloud environments).
• Proven ability to independently design and develop cloud-scalable services in a containerized, CI/CD environment.
• Strong foundational knowledge of software engineering best practices, including coding standards, functional and unit testing, and source control management.
• Experience collaborating on problem-solving, platform issues, and root-cause analysis for proactive resolution of product and operational issues.

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

This is an onsite position at our Photon offices in Chennai, Hyderabad, or Bangalore.
