SDE IV

As an SDE IV at Airtel Africa, you'll lead the design and development of scalable backend systems. You will be a senior individual contributor, taking ownership of complex features and contributing to architectural decisions while mentoring other engineers. The focus is on delivering high-quality, production-ready software using innovation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Design and Development: Lead end-to-end feature development across backend and frontend; design scalable systems; write clean, testable code; ensure seamless integration.
• Mentorship and Technical Leadership: Guide junior engineers through code reviews; promote best practices; define coding standards.
• Innovation and Tooling: Leverage LLMs and AI to streamline workflows; explore new tools.
• Quality and Performance: Work with QA and SRE for high performance; build automated tests; monitor systems and address bottlenecks.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and Designers; participate in sprint planning; contribute to documentation.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of backend development experience (e.g., Java, Spring Boot) and frontend experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and CI/CD.
• Experience with containerization (Docker), version control (Git), and Agile.
• Strong problem-solving and optimization skills.
• Exposure to LLMs/AI tools.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks.
• Experience in DevOps and using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Understanding of secure coding and GDPR.
