MTS 1 Software Engineer

eBay is seeking a passionate and motivated Backend Software Engineer to join the Marketing technology team. The role involves building and improving eBay Live marketing backend platforms, with a focus on audience management and targeting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed systems, network system design, and large-scale database systems.

Responsibilities:

• Build platforms and systems infrastructure, leveraging expertise in distributed systems, network system design, and large-scale database systems.
• Research, analyze, design, develop, and test solutions aligned with business and technology strategies.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and team meetings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, considering functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to quality objectives.
• Develop technical and domain expertise to address product challenges.

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of product development experience in Java (expert level), Spring Boot, REST services, and web technologies.
• Experience with database-driven application development (Oracle, NoSQL - Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase), SQL, and schema design.
• Experience building live products that have scaled to a large number of users.
• Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and problem-solving.
• Commitment to quality and writing code and tests.
• Ecommerce experience (e.g., Amazon, Google, Meta, Apple).
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and customers across different locations.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in web front-end UI development (e.g., ReactJS, Node.js).
• Experience in building a live e-commerce product.
• Knowledge of UNIX development environment and associated tools.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with BigData (Hadoop / Spark / Hive).
• Familiarity with AI-powered coding generation (e.g., OpenAI Codex).
