DATA POEM, an AI-powered connected intelligence company, is seeking a dynamic Engineering Team Lead with 6-10 years of experience to oversee end-to-end development of both backend services and frontend interfaces. You will guide a cross-functional team in creating robust APIs and engaging user experiences using Python (FastAPI), React/Next.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Agentic AI. You'll collaborate with product, design, and data teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and user-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Backend & APIs
  • Design and implement RESTful services using Python (FastAPI), focusing on scalability, performance optimization, and clean code practices.
  • Architect databases and optimize data models across MongoDB and PostgreSQL, ensuring high availability and efficient querying.
  • Build asynchronous and event-driven workflows for long-running tasks (e.g., email notifications, data processing) using Python frameworks and schedulers.
• Frontend & User Interfaces
  • Lead the development of responsive, dynamic UIs using React, Next.js, and modern front-end tooling (Tailwind CSS, React Query).
  • Drive design-system adoption by creating reusable components to maintain visual consistency, reduce development time, and improve user experience.
• Cloud & DevOps
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale services on AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) using containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines - GITHUB.
  • Automate testing, code quality checks, and deployment to ensure reliability and rapid delivery.
• AI & Integration
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate agentic AI solutions (Anthropic API) into backend workflows and user-facing features.
  • Promote best practices for data privacy, model integration, and error handling in AI‑driven applications.

Team & Project Management

• Mentor engineers across frontend and backend specialties, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Translate product requirements into technical roadmaps, manage sprint planning, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
• Conduct proof‑of‑concepts to evaluate new technologies and recommend adoption strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience & Education
  • 6-10 years of professional experience building scalable backend systems and modern web applications, including leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency
  • Strong command of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like FastAPI, and Django.
  • Proficient with React, Next.js, and UI design best practices, including performance tuning and state management with Redux.
  • Experience with database design (SQL and NoSQL) and cloud deployment on AWS, including familiarity with CI/CD tools and Docker.
  • Exposure to AI integration and asynchronous task management.
  • Prior experience in building design systems or reusable component libraries.
• Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and team-building skills.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and collaborating with product/design teams.
  • An innovative mindset, always exploring modern technologies to enhance product capabilities.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with additional front-end technologies - Vue.js.
• Contributions to open-source projects or personal portfolios showcasing full‑stack work (e.g., collaborative whiteboard apps).
