Devops Engineer (IN)

This DevOps Engineer position at symplr in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, involves implementing, operating, monitoring, recovering, and tuning infrastructure and application services. The role focuses on automation, CI/CD, and operating production systems using a software engineering approach.

Key objectives include improving system performance, increasing operational observability, enhancing system stability, and accelerating software delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Champion departmental initiatives.
• Participate in product release cycles, collaborating with Engineering Managers, Architects, and Developers.
• Automate product deployments using CI/CD tools, monitoring, and change management practices.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and configuration changes.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, notification, and metrics collection for infrastructure and application performance, system uptime, and error rates.
• Monitor and improve production environment infrastructure capacity and reliability.
• Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Respond to production system alerts and address root causes.
• Identify and resolve single points of failure to improve system reliability.
• Automate tasks and introduce new tools and practices.
• Collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure Engineers and developers to optimize deployments.
• Consult and influence developers on scalability.

Skills Required:

• 4-6 years of experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCE) and On-Prem Servers.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, Load Balancing, and protocols like DNS and HTTPS.
• Experience with application monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, ELK, Prometheus).
• Deep understanding of Web Servers & Database.
• Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting knowledge and understanding of software life cycles.
• Deep understanding of DevOps practices.
• Experience with high-traffic and scalable systems.
• Understanding of release automation (packaging, dependencies, promotion, deployment, compliance).
• Passion for performance metrics.
• Excellent time management, resource organization, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Systems Engineering experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and On-Prem Servers.
• Experience with Windows and Linux Servers, Application Monitoring Tools (Datadog, New Relic), Log Aggregation Tools (ELK), PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure Pipelines, Jenkins), Infrastructure management tools (Terraform, Ansible), Application Hosting (IIS, Apache, Tomcat), and optionally, Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
